Why this industry?

India currently faces a $530 billion credit gap for SMEs and MSMEs as of April 2023 [source]. This significant gap highlights the need for effective financing solutions to support the country’s small and medium enterprises. Anchor-based financing, a model that leverages established distributors or large firms to secure and manage credit risk, has proven to be successful in bridging such gaps. This approach offers a clear roadmap for integrating smaller retailers into the formal credit system by using larger, creditworthy entities as anchors. With ample untapped potential in this space, the industry presents substantial opportunities for growth and innovation.

Why we invested?

We invested at the pre-seed level due to Quid’s customized solution for organized retail, an untapped niche. This investment is a bet on the large market opportunity and the founders, who have demonstrated exceptional execution and innovative thinking by securing a major anchor like Ripplr and tailoring the model accordingly. With plans to onboard more brands and expand rapidly, Quid's edge lies in its execution and strategic partnerships. The founders' strong industry experience, early traction with pilot programs, and successful initial funding round provide a solid foundation for scaling full operations.
